We adore them & love the energy flowing from them. We are enjoying your website now that I have returned home. Name: Cat Krilov Date: 09/28/2008 Message: More than just aesthetically pleasing jewelry, Jan forges meaningful talismans, small but weighty tokens that serve as reminders of what is important - love, life, faith, the beauty of the world and our brief stay in it. At the most recent NOLA Arts Market, I fell in love with Jan's "little book" pendants; I am an avid reader and writer, and I was tickled by the like-a-locket-but-not concept. I planned to open and read them all, and then depending on sticker price, pick the one I liked best. Well. I got as far as the third one: "I am mortal, born to love, born to die." I literally got a chill. I still do. I'm not sure words can describe the "rightness" of that sentiment, or how succinctly that sums up my own personal weltanshauung. I didn't care about the price tag. That one was mine. It's rare to find an artist (or artisan, or craftsperson - pick whichever descriptor you prefer) who's work literally speaks to the viscera. Jan is just such a rarity. I suspect she would continue making her talismans even if no one bought them, but to ensure that she does continue, I highly suggest to all who might read this that you find a piece that speaks to you and buy it! :) Thanks Jan. You rock. |
